[ what happened ]
SunPower Corporation, once one of the largest residential solar companies in the United States, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2024 and wound down its original operations. In September 2024, Complete Solaria purchased key SunPower assets, including the Blue Raven Solar business, the New Homes division, and the dealer network.
In April 2025, Complete Solaria rebranded itself as SunPower and reclaimed the SPWR ticker on Nasdaq, then formally changed its legal name to SunPower Inc. in October 2025. SunPower Inc. is an active, publicly traded company, but it is a separate legal entity from the SunPower Corporation that installed systems before the 2024 bankruptcy, and it is not automatically responsible for servicing older accounts.

Is the SunPower company today the same one that installed my system?
No. The original SunPower Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2024 and wound down. A different company, Complete Solaria, later purchased some SunPower assets and renamed itself SunPower Inc. in 2025. It is a separate legal entity and is not automatically responsible for systems installed before the bankruptcy.
