Sunnova Energy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on June 9, 2025. Its assets were later acquired by Solaris Assets LLC, and SunStrong Management now services many former Sunnova lease, PPA, and battery-lease accounts. If Sunnova installed or financed your solar system anywhere in Colorado, here is what still applies, what does not, and what to check this week.

[ what happened ]
Sunnova Energy International, one of the largest residential solar financing and installation companies in the country, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on June 9, 2025, reporting between $10 billion and $50 billion in both assets and liabilities. The company cited elevated inflation, prolonged high interest rates, and policy uncertainty, including the termination of a Department of Energy loan, ahead of the filing.
In September 2025, Solaris Assets LLC completed the acquisition of Sunnova’s business. As of mid-2026, SunStrong Management services many former Sunnova lease, power purchase agreement, and battery-lease accounts. If Sunnova financed or installed your system, your account may already be with SunStrong, and it is worth confirming who currently holds your agreement before assuming no one is responsible for it.
