[ what happened ]
ADT announced in early 2024 that it was exiting the solar installation business to focus on its core security operations. The ADT Solar brand, which had previously operated as Sunpro Solar before ADT’s rebrand, effectively stopped taking new customers by mid-2024. Unlike Freedom Forever, Titan Solar Power, or Sunnova, ADT Solar’s exit was a strategic business decision, not a bankruptcy filing.
ADT has said it will continue to honor existing customer warranties, and Spruce Pro has been designated to manage and resolve workmanship and equipment warranty claims for former ADT Solar customers. However, ADT no longer has dedicated solar customer service lines or local technicians, so day-to-day support and repair work fall to homeowners to arrange.
[ what changes, what does not ]
Manufacturer warranties on your panels, inverter, and battery
Your solar loan or lease, payments continue as scheduled
Warranty claims through Spruce Pro, ADT's designated partner
The solar system itself and its production
A dedicated ADT solar customer service line
Local ADT technicians for repairs or system checks
Production guarantees beyond manufacturer coverage
Same-day support since ADT exited the solar business

No. ADT's exit from solar was a strategic business decision announced in early 2024, not a bankruptcy filing. ADT Solar stopped taking new customers by mid-2024 but has said it will continue to honor existing warranties through a designated partner.
